Ground Floor Living Space

Step through the front door into a cosy and characterful sitting room, where exposed Purbeck stone walls, a classic Chesterfield sofa and a sumptuous velvet armchair create a warm and inviting place to unwind after a day exploring Swanage and the Jurassic Coast.

Beyond the lounge, the cottage opens into a charming kitchen and dining area centred around a traditional red range cooker. With dining space for four guests and everything needed for relaxed self-catering holidays, it's a wonderful space for leisurely breakfasts before heading to the beach or cosy dinners after a day by the sea.

A short hallway leads to the family bathroom, which features a shower cubicle alongside a beautiful roll-top bath, perfect for soaking tired legs after coastal walks.

First Floor

Like many historic Purbeck cottages, Punch and Judy Cottage retains its original character with traditional cottage staircases leading to the upper floors.

Across the landing, the master bedroom offers a comfortable king-size bed and lovely views towards the Purbeck Hills and surrounding countryside.

This floor is also home to one of the cottage's most memorable features. Large solid wood bi-fold doors open fully onto a sunny decked terrace, allowing the indoor living space to flow effortlessly into the garden. During warmer months, guests can throw open the doors and enjoy peaceful views across the secluded garden while relaxing with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine.

Second Floor

A winding staircase leads to the charming twin attic bedroom tucked beneath the eaves. Full of cottage character, this peaceful room provides a cosy retreat for children, friends or family members after a day spent exploring the Dorset coast.

Outside & Garden

The delightful enclosed garden provides several quiet seating areas amongst mature planting, creating a peaceful spot to relax throughout the day.

One of the garden's most fascinating features is the historic summer house, which remains a reminder of the cottage's colourful past. Neighbours fondly recall celebrities arriving by Rolls Royce to visit the talented dressmaker who once worked here, adding yet another chapter to the property's rich local history.

Please note that, as a historic Purbeck cottage, the property features steep and traditional staircases, including a winding staircase to the attic bedroom. For this reason, the cottage is unsuitable for children under five years of age, guests with mobility difficulties, or anyone who may find stairs challenging. Children aged five and over are welcome.
